What my maid taught me about Consistency

My husband and I were fed up with maids in the past and decided not to have a maid. Since 2020, we have been doing our household work ourselves. My husband cleaned and mopped home. I washed utensils and cooked. We found that household work kept us more rooted and active. We could sustain this lifestyle for 4 years. After our child is born, household work became overwhelming. So, we hired a maid. Lets say her name is Jasmine.

Jasmine came on time. She did a great job in cleaning. Our home is neat. She did not study much and came from a well to do family. She chose to be a maid as she wanted to be financially independent and this profession offered her flexible timings. She is a nice young lady.

Well, when I thought everything is going well, Jasmine started taking leaves frequently. Every 10 days, she went on a leave for 4 to 5 days. Sometimes, it went to 10 days. In one month, she took 15 days leave. I was fed up of leaves and decided to let her go. So, I gently let her go with 1 month bonus salary.

After Jasmine, we hired another maid. Lets say her name is Rose. Rose came late everyday. Her work is ok. But I am more than happy to have Rose as maid as she is very consistent. Of course, she took leaves but only 3 to 4 leaves per month.

This entire experience taught me that consistency is a very important quality. Today, we are living in the age of information where there is too much of knowledge out there. Want to meditate? or exercise? or diet? For everything, there are hundreds of options. And its easy to lose ourselves exploring various options without being consistent in any option.

After starting my raw diet journey on June 21st, I realized it is very difficult to be consistently 100% raw. As a soul, I have been eating cooked food since many lifetimes and suddenly I cannot overcome this tendency no matter how good I feel on raw diet. I am able to go 90% raw but that 10% pull for cooked food is there on many days. So, I am trying to be consistently 90% raw. Once I build consistency in 90%, I can work on 95% and then 100%.

Thank you Jasmine and Rose for teaching me the importance of consistency in life.
